Almost everyone i know that wanted a Switch 2 eventually was able to get one. Regardless, it was a real mess. For me, i tried multiple sites, and somehow landed on Walmart cuz their preorder system was the most stable.

I had no luck getting a preorder online (because of aforementioned mess), but had no problem showing up at the GameStop in the local mall about 20 minutes before opening time. (I was 16th in line and they had 81 total units.)

Just in case all this recent spam is because of bots (and I'm not sure it is), the anti-bot registration questions have been modified to better confound them.

With prices that high, yeah, i'm out buying anymore amiibos.

Moge, et al: Thoughts on $40 Street Fighter 6 amiibos?
April 20, 2025, 09:58:16 am
Probably true but I can't kick out the bots, only the registered users.

So much bot spam. I'm starting to think over 95% of our 400 guests are actually bots.

There was absolutely nothing new in that presentation that would convince anyone sitting on the fence. Pretty much could have inserted the few new details into the original Switch 2 presentation, and it wouldn't negatively impact the presentation's length.

Nintendo flubs another Direct. When the VP of Nintendo of America and Treehouse folks tell us to wait until the Direct to get explanation on what people have seen, better not gloss over things that are still unknowns like the P-switch challenges, question panels, and medallion collection.

Moge and I are trying to take care of it as quickly as we can. As far as I can tell its still requiring an actual human to register, but if I get suspicion bots are figuring out the registration questions I will adjust them to confound the bots.

a lot of bots lately trying to spam up the shoutbox

If that's the case, then there's potential for the system to actually go up in price down the line, especially considering the two countries manufacturing the system will be getting slammed with tariffs.
April 02, 2025, 07:54:27 pm
It's actually not a tariff thing. European prices are even higher than the North American price. Base model is 395.99 British pound ($515.59 at today's exchange rate) and 469.99 euro ($512.58) So its really Nintendo giving a much cheaper model to home market.
